Landscape on every scale
We design landscapes. We work with space. We pride ourselves on our broad approach to landscape design. We design everything from private gardens to city parks, public spaces and urban solutions. We compose space. In the natural landscape, in the countryside, in cities and in industrial areas.

L&SCAPE’S HISTORY
L&SCAPE builds on more than twenty years of Šmídová Landscape Architects which, since its founding in 2002, has grown into one of Czechia’s most prestigious landscape practices. The new name, L&SCAPE, was adopted in 2023 as part of a re-branding process to reflect the studio’s current direction, vision and values.
“We do realise that L&SCAPE is not a straightforward name, but our work is equally complex and multifaceted. The ampersand (&) in the name points to the essence of landscape architecture, which is all about the word ‘and’: it is about connections between professions, between approaches, and between the city and the landscape. We believe that our clients – and especially the users of our projects – will continue to appreciate this approach.” Štěpánka Endrle
Our team consists of experienced architects and landscape architects with degrees from prestigious Czech and international universities, who share a modern approach to contemporary landscape design and apply it to all projects, regardless of their scale or complexity.

ŠTĚPÁNKA ENDRLE
Štěpánka, the founder of L&SCAPE, is fascinated by landscape architecture, seeing it as a discipline which has a unique ability to positively influence the environments in which we live, combining human-made design with the perfect design of nature. It unites knowledge from the natural sciences, technical disciplines, and the humanities, calling for insight, creativity and imagination – but above all, a responsibility for the future. In her studio’s work, Štěpánka emphasises ecology, sustainability and a modern approach to landscape design that respects natural processes and supports biodiversity.
One of her key missions is to change the perception of landscape architecture in Czechia, making sure that it is recognised as a truly professional discipline based on cooperation across many fields, with an emphasis on long-term sustainability and functionality. She is actively involved in popularising the discipline and helps educate future landscape architects. She regularly serves on juries for landscape architecture competitions. Since 2023, she has been a Board member in the Czech Chamber of Architects.

Science and art
Our mission is to change the perception of landscape architecture, making sure it is recognised as a truly professional field based on interdisciplinary cooperation and focused on sustainability and functionality. The landscape – including the urban landscape – should be a living organism, not a mere visual backdrop.
