The vast brownfield site beside the railway in Prague’s Vysočany district, once occupied by the Odkolek Bakeries, had no direct or established links to the surrounding city. The aim of its regeneration is to transform the former industrial area into a residential neighbourhood while respecting its industrial character.

At the heart of the new spatial concept is a generous central open space, with a water feature and mature trees set within paved areas. Ground-level planting is concentrated in a ring around its perimeter. The choice of materials for surfaces and street furniture draws on the site’s industrial past and incorporates some elements found on site.

The public space also features twelve works by Czech artists from Odkolekce, a contemporary art collection. Their carefully curated placement takes into account their relationship with the architecture and the outdoor spaces between the buildings.
