The outdoor spaces around the proposed Libuš station on the new metro line D present an opportunity to create a new centre for the city district. The transport infrastructure drives the creation of a high-quality public space that stitches together the surrounding fabric of housing estates and detached houses and contributes to a more coherent urban structure.

The design responds to Libuš’s location on the outskirts of Prague and its proximity to the Modřanská rokle nature reserve. The character of the site is reflected in the visual design and the choice of plant species, which draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape and helps to establish a distinct local identity.

At the heart of the design is a public square with generous paved areas, providing space for pedestrians and community events such as markets and social gatherings. These extensive paved areas are complemented by a maximum possible number of trees, bringing greenery and shade to the urban environment. Stone paving and carefully selected street furniture complete the character of the new public space.
