Already this summer, the initiated planting in the littoral zones has helped to integrate the revitalized pond into its surroundings, as well as to stimulate colonization by animals who find their habitats here. For the future, of course, we expect a natural development of such artificially established vegetation, especially in terms of its structure and species composition.
In August, natural fibre mats with pre-planted coastal plants were installed along the shore line of the pond. This element will both prevent erosion of the shore and create a natural interface between the water surface and its surroundings.
Planting on mats was also used in certain parts of the newly established bed of the stream. Here, the mats will mainly prevent undermining of the shore.
