REGENERATION OF THE KROMĚŘÍŽ CHATEAU GARDEN
The project’s primary aim is to restore selected elements of the historic landscape surrounding the Archbishop’s Chateau in Kroměříž, and revitalise its complex network of watercourses. The design preserves and stabilises the garden’s existing character, which evolved gradually through the addition of features from different stylistic periods. Water courses and water bodies have been returned to their original forms, complemented by new interventions that ensure their proper functioning.
The project also encompasses the conservation and restoration of the historic Pompeian Colonnade and the nearby circular stone fountain. Preparatory work involved the study of an extensive collection of documents and historical photographs, supported by technical surveys, laboratory analyses, and consultations with experts from a range of disciplines – something we always place great emphasis on. In addition, the project includes the revitalisation of waterfowl enclosures, featuring custom-designed modular nesting boxes. Several new jetties have also been introduced across the garden to improve access to the water.
